Climbing belay plates are used as descenders in order to rappel, and also to belay a climber who is seconding. Belay plates can also be used to belay the leader, even though this is seldom the case. They can be used both with single or half/twin ropes and they need the use of a (usually oval) carabiner in order to produce braking.
CAMP was born in 1889 in Premana (LC) as founded by the blacksmith Nicola Codega. He and his family produced the gear that helped the Italian soldiers move on the Italian mountains during the First World War. They particularly developed the ice axes. By the end of the Second World War the legendary Italian mountaineer Riccardo Cassin started working with the Codega family, and the brand became a landmark in the production of mountaineering and climbing gear.
