Ortovox Pro Alu III + Pocket Spike avalanche shovel ice axe
The avalanche shovel Pro Alu III + Pocket Spike from Ortovox is part of the safety equipment that you should always have in your backpack and use in emergencies.
With the Shovel Pro Alu III, you have an anodized aluminum blade with a telescopic handle, a volume of 2.7 l, a total weight of 770 grams, and a minimal footprint that allows you to disassemble it in just a few moves and store it in any hiking backpack.
The Pro version also allows you to use the blade both as a digging shovel and as a stretcher or emergency sled, thanks to the four corner holes.
Extremely lightweight, spacious, versatile, compact, and ultra-durable.
The blade is sharp, to bite better into the snow, the handle is telescopic, grooved, and has a rubber coating on the lower part for maximum ergonomics, while the hybrid grip allows for various holding modes, suitable for both left-handed and right-handed users.
Pocket Spike consists of two parts: a forged aluminum pick and a tip, both weighing just 90 grams.
The two elements should be inserted respectively on the handle of the Pro Alu III shovel and in place of the shovel blade. What you will get is an emergency ice axe to use as support for walking on snow and firn or as a braking support, especially if you are just a few meters away from reaching the summit or facing steep terrain and a difficult crossing.
The quick-lock system ensures easy and quick assembly of all the components.
