Petzl Griptape adhesive tape for ice axe
Petzl Griptape adhesive tape for ice axe is an insulating tape that you can wrap around the handle of the ice axe (like the Nomic or the Quark) to increase grip when using the ice axe for vertical climbs. At the same time, the tape also acts as thermal insulation.
For the Griptape, after removing the white part, start wrapping from the bottom, ensuring that each turn overlaps the lower layer by about half the surface; the tape is self-bonding, so it does not require glue, and should be held slightly taut during wrapping so that the tape grips onto itself. The final part should be secured with one or two turns of insulating or electrician's tape.
