Description

Six years after the last edition and thirteen years since its first publication, here is the third version of Calcare di Marca by Versante Sud, a work that, like the previous ones, collects all the sport climbing walls of the Marche region.

The extensive work of bolting and organizing the walls by the unstoppable climbers from Marche makes this new edition essential, as much of the playing field has changed.

Exciting new routes have emerged in Frasassi and the Pesaro valleys, but also in the hills around Ascoli, where some new crags have appeared, and especially an impressive maintenance effort has revived some less frequented crags due to the age of the equipment.

Marco Nardi has always been passionate about the mountains; he has repeated the most famous alpine routes in Central Italy, in the Dolomites, on Mont Blanc, in Val di Mello, and in Northern Europe, later broadening his horizons by planning and leading expeditions outside Europe to the Caucasus, Africa, Australia, Pamir, and Karakoram, culminating in the oxygen-free ascent of the 8030 meters of Rocky Summit on Broad Peak. He has opened more than 300 routes in crags and over 50 classic and modern alpine routes in the mountains, almost always solo. A National Free Climbing Instructor of CAI, a level II Opes instructor, he has been engaged for three decades as a Coach and Route Setter in the youth sector of F.A.S.I. in Central Italy.

Sandro Angelini has been active since the dawn of free climbing in Pesaro, serving as a constant guide for the entire area. He has equipped about 400 new routes and systematically contributes to the maintenance of many of them, all in the purest spirit of volunteering and self-financing. In F.A.S.I., he has been a reference first in guiding activities in his region, then for the national development of crag activities. Professionally, Sandro is the owner of the well-known company Smog, which produces holds and volumes, and one of the founders of the One Way Up gym in Pesaro.
