Versante Sud Lario Rock Falesie is a climbing guide that encompasses the geographical area between the cities of Lecco and Como, on the shores of Lake Lario, characterized by a century of renowned mountaineering tradition. In particular, sport climbing has significantly developed over the years, thanks to the ideal and beautiful context of the Grigne and Resegone mountains.

Since the 1930s, during the era of the VI grade, through the experience of Riccardo Cassin and his companions, the cliffs of Lecco have become one of the birthplaces of limestone climbing in Italy. Starting from 1984, the area of Como and Lecco has seen a rapid and constant spread of sport climbing, an evolution that has never stopped and is still vibrant today. The proximity of this area to the main cities of Northern Italy encourages and increases the presence of climbers in its crags, which are also known internationally.

This guide is a new edition of the previous one, published in 2018, and represents the sum of all available information on the cliffs of Lecco, the reference for sport climbing in the areas of Lecco and Como. The guide, written by the same expert authors of the previous edition, describes over 100 crags, using the most modern editorial and graphic technologies, complemented by drawings and technical images of the access paths and the locations of the crags, along with GPS coordinates and QR codes for the access paths and parking areas. Based on a precise choice, this edition is enriched with many action images, as we believe that images are an essential element to describe the characteristics of a crag or a route. Additionally, there are many sections on history, presenting the people and places that have defined the evolution of sport climbing in this area.
