Versante Sud Malopasso describes almost 60 climbing sites between the Amalfi Coast, Positano, Palinuro, the Cilento Park, and Maratea. In addition to the updated reports of the cliffs and historical routes, this fourth edition of Malopasso is enriched with a section dedicated to the via ferratas present in the region and in the Lucanian Apennines.

On the Amalfi Coast, climbing often takes place in little-known places, among unusual scenery characterized by rock dwellings, churches, and monasteries, where the colors of the mountain blend with the blue of the sea. During the winter months, the seaside villages take on a special charm, and climbing becomes a natural vehicle for getting to know the places, the people, the past, and the history.

Leaving the maze of narrow streets, nature and the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, the landscape changes radically as one approaches the area of the Cilento Park, Vallo di Diano, and Alburni.

The walls of Cilento have added value. The stone where one climbs blends with Mediterranean scents, history, and popular traditions, and it is from the heights of these walls that one can better perceive the ability these places have to evoke emotions.

Oreste Bottiglieri, born in Cava de' Tirreni in 1972, lives on the Amalfi Coast. He is a UIAGM Alpine Guide, climbing instructor, bolter, operator, and supervisor for rope work, with professional specialization in setting up climbing sites and via ferratas. "I have been climbing since I was a child, and I like to think of climbing and outdoor disciplines as a lifestyle, an excuse to travel and deeply know other places: from the villages of the Amalfi Coast to the 4000-meter peaks of the Alps. My passion for the mountains, for my land, and for the work of a guide has led me over the years to discover and enhance most of the climbing sites in Campania and to open over 1000 climbing routes among single pitches, multipitches, and classic routes. I work and live with enthusiasm, increasingly aware that I have the most beautiful job in the world in the most beautiful places in the world!"
