Description

As long as there is no more boundary. Because that is how it happens. Millimeter by millimeter. Centimeter by centimeter.
The line must be studied, assimilated, earned under the skin, in every fiber of the body. In every corner of the mind. Days and days of attempts, travels, indoor and outdoor training, waiting. Defeats and progress.
Doubts and certainties. Until that boundary is erased. Mind and body. Force of gravity and fluidity. Plastic and rock. Everything is interconnected. Opposites attract. He is the line. The line is him..

Stefano Ghisolfi is a great worker of routes. And that is how he climbs them. In a process of millimetric precision, hold after hold, block after block. And that is how he brings us inside them. In the work in progress of Silence 9c, in Change 9b+, Bibliographie 9b+, Perfecto Mundo 9b+ and Excalibur 9b+: the most difficult routes in the world told by Stefano in a constant dialogue with them.

In this dialogue, however, it is not limited to great projects but also explores his Piedmontese roots. His debut at the Aosta Valley Ceiling of Sarre. The transition to the world of professionalism with the entry into the Sports Group of the Fiamme Oro of Moena shared with his sister Claudia, the second Italian, after Laura Rogora, to complete a 9a route. And finally, the long journey between victories and defeats in international competition circuits, chasing the overall title of the Lead World Cup achieved in 2021.

A great story of love and humility. Of friendships, discoveries, and growth. In which mistakes and difficulties have been a reason for new challenges, a ground for comparison and enrichment. Leading Stefano to be who he is today: a champion at the top of the world of indoor and outdoor sports climbing.

Antonella Cicogna is a professional journalist and translator. A reality they now share with their daughter Sonia. Antonella has written about Oman, Iran, Pakistan, Northern India, Afghanistan, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Algeria in her reports. For Versante Sud, she is co-author of the climbing guide Arco Falesie.
