Captain Fingerfood Unlevel differs from traditional hangboards due to its curved grip surface. The peculiarity of this new grip shape is that it takes into account the different lengths of the fingers and distributes the load more evenly across all fingers. It is a perfect tool for preventive finger strength training and recovery after finger injuries.
The phalanges of our fingers naturally have different lengths. This results in a different angular position of the proximal interphalangeal joints (PIP) when grasping a straight bar. The greater the difference in length between the middle fingers and the adjacent ones, the steeper the angle at the middle finger's intermediate joint in a half crimp grip. This leads to an uneven distribution of forces under load, which can not only result in different strength ratios but also in overloads and joint capsule issues under certain circumstances.
The curved shape of the Unlevel hangboard compensates for the length difference and loads the fingers more evenly while maintaining the same joint position.
The symmetrical shape of the grip allows for training both hands on one side. Compared to many other manufacturers, the Unlevel hangboard thus has two grip depths instead of just one.
