DMM Bulldog climbing progression hook
The Bulldog from DMM is a traction anchor suitable for winter terrain. It can be inserted into the ice holes created by the ice axe and can be hammered into cracks and joints like a piton.
A long flat plate on the back of the Bulldog creates a good area for hammering, making placement easy and quick. The long handle allows for leverage to easily extract the Bulldog from difficult placements and also houses an elastic strap that helps reduce rope drag on the more challenging winter climbs.
The profile resembles that of an ice axe, with backward-facing teeth that help the Bulldog bite into snow and frozen cracks. The Bulldog achieves 15kN in laboratory tests.
