La Sportiva Cobra 4.99 is the reimagining of the iconic La Sportiva model specifically designed for speed competitions!
The name says it all: 4.99, managing to break the barrier of 5 seconds in speed competitions! In these new Cobra 4.99, La Sportiva has aimed to minimize weight while simultaneously enhancing the shoe's performance in various ways:
- the upper is no longer made of leather, but is now crafted from microfiber. A material with a very low specific weight that adapts perfectly to the foot and its shapes.
- the toe is covered in a very durable and slippery rubber! Contrary to classic models, this is because in speed, the upper part of the shoe often scrapes against holds and the wall, damaging and slowing down the climber. Thanks to this insert, friction will be much lower, and the resistance and durability of the shoe will significantly increase.
- the sole has been split in half! The front part is made of Vibram XS Grip2, super sticky and high-performing, while the back part, practically unused in speed, is made with a layer of very lightweight rubber, in order to save a few grams here as well.
The result is an extremely high-performing reimagining of the La Sportiva slipper, with a weight of only 340 g per pair!
