Cesare Ferrino had his big idea while working in a paint shop in Turin in 1870. He started the production of water-resistant. The company produced tents for explorers during the last years of the nineteenth Century. During the whole twentieth Century many world-famous expeditions were made possible by the use of the technical equipment supplied by Ferrino, among which Messner's ascents of the Gasherbrun and the Lhotse, or Borge Ousland's crossing of the Antarctica.
