Edelrid Giga Jul climbing belay device with assisted braking
The Edelrid Giga Jul belay device and descender is versatile, lightweight, and durable, ideal for mountain use and with ropes between 7.1 and 10 mm in diameter.
The belay device is made of aluminum and stainless steel for the parts most subject to wear and friction, providing you not only with lightness but also with strength and longevity.
Giga Jul works both as a classic belay device in "manual" mode and as an assisted braking system in "assisted" mode.
The two modes, Guide and Assisted Brake, operate intuitively based on the needs of the moment.
The first is designed for belaying the lead climber, for seconding, and for double rappels. The second offers greater safety in case of a fall by the lead climber. Even in this last mode, assisted braking, you still have the option to give slack to the lead climber quickly by simply keeping the device in the "open" position with your thumb.
