Edelrid Ohm weight difference braking device climbing
Edelrid Ohm is the innovative braking device for sport climbing that helps alleviate the shock experienced by the belayer in case of a fall by the lead climber. The weight difference between the two climbers can indeed become a problem when it is significant. For the lead climber, it is easy to take a longer fall than necessary since the resistance offered by the lighter partner is low. For the belayer, the danger is being thrown against the rock or the wall of the gym due to the violent jerk.
The Ohm is installed on the first quickdraw of the route being climbed. Thanks to its design, it can be installed directly on the bolt or on another quickdraw (for example, the fixed one in a gym).
The climber proceeds without noticing the difference: the Ohm does not prevent the rope from sliding upwards. However, in the event of a fall by the lead climber, the Ohm automatically activates, controlling and braking the rope that becomes taut.
Descending is also easier and less jerky thanks to the Ohm. The Ohm is perfect for climbing safely and thus raising the level!
The Ohm comes complete with a quick link that connects it to a 10 cm webbing with a straight gate carabiner, all included in the price.
