Idea Montagna trekking guide Sibillini Mountains excursions: The Sibillini Mountains are a chain that develops, running south-north, between Umbria and Marche, along the watershed line between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic seas, and is geographically included in the Umbrian-Marche section of the Central Apennines. The latter represents the highest and most rugged part of the entire Apennine system, with the Gran Sasso massif reaching 2912 meters in altitude further south and forming a large arch, made up of mountain blocks, predominantly running south-north, well-defined and parallel to each other, where the Sibillini Mountains occupy the central area.
The magnificence of the Sibillini Mountains lies in their wild character. The way to explore the group consists of the 33 itineraries proposed here, complemented by two long-distance routes: the Norcia-Castelluccio Loop (2 stages), the High Crossing of the Sibillini (4 stages).
