After 30 years since the first publication, Idea Montagna now presents the fourth edition of a guide that enthusiasts define as the Bible for ice climbing on the waterfalls of the Italian North-East. The world of waterfalls has undergone a true revolution in the last 30 years. Despite being harsh environments, where the most intense cold often reigns, especially when there is a greater need for sun and warmth, an increasing number of passionate climbers dedicate themselves to scaling ice waterfalls. In recent decades, also due to climate change that significantly affects ice formation, climbers, especially the top ones, have shifted from pure ice climbing to climbing on rock faces, increasingly connecting ever smaller frozen flows. It is, therefore, a rapidly evolving activity that sees new routes being opened every year, which were unthinkable just a few years ago. This guide aims to pause time for a moment and take stock of the current situation with reviews of 508 ice and mixed routes. It starts from the heart of the Dolomites, in a project that concerns the entire Italian area of the North-East: Prealpi Venete, Dolomiti del Trentino, and Alto Adige.
