Petzl GriGri + climbing belay device with assisted braking
The Petzl GriGri + is much more than just a simple belay device: it is a tool designed to guide you step by step in learning and perfecting the art of belaying. Designed for climbing both as a lead climber and in top rope, in the gym or on rock, it combines an assisted braking system with a panic handle that automatically engages if you pull too hard during the descent, offering an ideal level of safety especially for those who are learning. The ASSIST + mode pre-activates the cam locking, making it easier to take in slack and helping to limit mistakes, such as accidentally releasing the braking side of the rope.
Usage is intuitive from the very first moment thanks to the diagrams engraved directly on the device, while the belaying techniques remain the standard Petzl ones, always with one hand on the braking side of the rope. The assisted braking system ensures greater comfort during use: when the climber loads the system or falls, the rope tightens and the cam engages to effectively lock it. During the descent, the ergonomic handle allows for smooth and precise control of the descent, with a mechanical advantage of 3:1 that reduces the effort required regardless of the rope diameter.
Compatible with dynamic single ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm and optimized for diameters between 8.9 and 10.5 mm, the GriGri + is built with durable materials such as aluminum and stainless steel, and integrates components made from recycled nylon for a more sustainable approach.
