Versante Sud SELLA rock is the climbing guide for 255 classic and sport routes in the Sella Group.

The Sella Group is simply enormous, with hundreds and hundreds of routes. Over the years, many routes have been opened, some of which are now forgotten or buried by new lines that have brushed against, crossed, or included the previous ones. More than one modern route has definitively erased the remnants of historical lines, most of which have not been repeated and of which practically no one remembered the existence.

A monograph could be written solely on the famous Towers and Piz Ciavazes, but the Sella Group is not just Piz Ciavazes, and the immense wall of Sass Pordoi is there to remind us; just turn the corner of Passo Sella to find yourself in front of the shady walls of the north face, pass under the imposing sport slabs of Cansla, and look in awe at the walls of Mesule, a zone without bolts par excellence. Shortly after, the Frea crag with its multipitch routes brings us back to a more relaxed atmosphere, but the walls of Sass dla Luesa take us back to a more classic mountaineering. A little further on, the immense walls of Pisciadù and Torre Brunico allow for tackling classic and high-class sport routes. In Colfosco, the Face Noire de la Lune now offers no less than 15 sport routes for the tireless Roly Galvagni, while the last corner of this rocky paradise visited in this guide concerns the walls around Vallon, near the Kostner hut.

The focus is on the most interesting routes, paying more attention to the accuracy of the descriptions than to the number of routes presented. Of course, we have not repeated all existing routes, but we have benefited from the firsthand collaboration of the pioneers and repeaters in the hope of providing the most accurate product possible.
