This first volume of the Vie Normali Valle d’Aosta series examines all the peaks classified and indicated as such in the official cartography of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta, accessible from the Saint Barthélemy Valley and the Valtournenche, totaling 95 summits. No peak has been overlooked, and all routes have been personally climbed by the authors, almost exclusively during the summer season of 2018. Some mountains have logical ascent routes from more than one side and from different valleys, but in this case, the technically easiest routes with the most logical path, the least elevation gain, the easiest approach, and the shortest duration have been selected. However, any variations and other possible ascent routes to the same summit are indicated in their respective entries. Some peaks that are part of the geographical, visual, and mountaineering horizon of these valleys, but which have a shorter, more logical, and safer normal route (also in relation to mountain transformations that have occurred in recent decades) developed from neighboring valleys, are included in the respective volumes of the series, particularly in Volume 2.
