Idea Montagna High Pusteria trekking guide: The Val Pusteria is undoubtedly one of the most important alpine valleys: its territory, besides representing the dividing line between the Dolomites to the south and the Aurine and Pusteresi Alps to the north, includes the watershed between the Mediterranean basin (River Rienza) and that of the Black Sea (River Drava). But not only that: it is the cultural border between Ladin, German, and Slavic cultures. The territory of this beautiful area largely corresponds to the watershed of the River Rienza and, in the eastern part beyond the Sella di Dobbiaco, to a tiny part of that of the Drava.
