Idea Montagna Hiking in the Valleys of Gran Paradiso: The valleys of Gran Paradiso are today a "symbol of nature", strong and rooted even for those who have never visited these places. The valleys of the Gran Paradiso National Park, the first national park in Italy, include the Val di Rhêmes, Valsavarenche, and the Valley of Cogne, as well as the nearby Valgrisenche — excluded from the protected area but geographically and ideally close to the neighboring valleys — encompass an extraordinary "treasure" of natural, faunal, geological, as well as historical and human significance. Valleys and mountains to be experienced on foot, which can be explored by walking on comfortable old mule tracks, lying next to a lake listening to the sound of the wind, observing the "free climbing" of ibex and chamois on the most rugged rocky ridges, or silently contemplating the spring blooms at the foot of the sparkling glaciers. The 45 proposed hikes cover the trails of Valgrisenche, Val di Rhêmes, Valsavarenche, and Valley of Cogne.
