The caving descender Petzl Simple is designed for descending on a single semi-static rope. Simple consists of movable side flanges made of aluminum and two fixed pulleys made of aluminum around which the rope runs, creating friction that will become your brake.
When facing very wet or muddy ropes, you can adjust the descent speed by bringing the rope down from the belay upwards or descend in half-hitch.
Simple should be used with a belay carabiner such as the Petzl Freino Z (click here to view the product) or a steel one, such as the Pillar Steel by CT Climbing Technology (click here to view the product) or the Handy by Raumer (click here to view the product).
The Petzl descender can be comfortably positioned on the rope without having to detach it from the harness, thanks to its ratchet.
Compatible with The internal aluminum pulleys are removable and replaceable.
Revised in some details, the new Simple accepts ropes with a diameter between 8.5 and 11 mm and features a longer connection hole that allows you to flip the Freino Z carabiner and make the descender indispensable during transfers from the gear holder to the maillon.
