Description

Abruzzo Vertical is a climbing guide published by Verdone Editore. The guide includes 40 climbing sites and 1400 routes in the heart of the Central Apennines.

Abruzzo is a land of great mountains and more. The "green region" in the heart of the Apennines is famous for its forests, churches, and medieval castles, as well as for its wolves and bears. What the guide aims to convey is the possibility of finding adventure even at low altitudes, and for this reason, they have dedicated the volume to the cliffs scattered throughout the entire region of Abruzzo. For each cliff, there is a brief description, directions on how to reach the site (in both Italian and English), difficulty grades, meters, and style.

The list includes spectacular and famous cliffs such as Roccamorice and Pietrasecca, places rich in history like the towers of Pietracamela where generations of Aquilotti have formed, temples of modern climbing like the pillar of Monte Aquila, modest but precious rocky outcrops for climbers in the area such as the rocks of Monticchio, Madonna d'Appari, Vallone d'Angri, or Civitella del Tronto.

Andrea Di Donato was born in Atri in 1981 and spent the first years of his childhood in the village of Castelli (TE). An Alpine Guide since 2011. You will often find him wandering through the mountains of Italy and the world. Tommaso Sciannella was born in Rome in 1972, but he is originally from the small village of Castelli (TE). A Master of Art and Climbing Instructor of UISP Lega Montagna. Among his passions are freeride and ski mountaineering.
