Versante Sud Mountain Bike from the Apennines to the sea is a bike guide that will take you from the Po Valley hills to the sea of Portofino without ever taking your feet off the pedals!
Born after a personal and professional journey of more than ten years, which led the author to know and appreciate mountain biking and the area where he lives, this guide aims to introduce and enhance the so-called area of the Four Provinces. For centuries, a transit area where the ancient Roman Via Postumia, the medieval Via Francigena and Via degli Abati, and the more modern Via del Sale intersected, the Four Provinces – Alessandria, Pavia, Piacenza, and Genoa – is a very interesting territory that stretches from the Apennines to the sea.
The guide presents a careful selection of circular routes of varying lengths and difficulties, which also include two spectacular crossings: the Via del Sale, which retraces the path along which Ligurian salt traveled to the Po Valley, and the Ring of the Four Provinces, which encompasses the best of the area where the Ligurian Apennines originate.
Enriching the 15 proposed itineraries are images and videos of the most spectacular sections, which you can access from your smartphone via QR Codes, allowing you to assist in your choices and savor the routes you will then ride on your MTB.
