Versante Sud Valle dell'Orco is the summary of many days spent up and down the valleys and of many years of climbing.
The guide describes the cliffs in the lower valley and the famous walls of Caporal and Sergent, including, after a long time since the last publication, the Soana valley, with the Vallone di Forze and the side valley of Piantonett, up to the edge of Lake Teleccio.
In addition to the numerous multipitch routes, there are many cliffs that also offer trad routes, itineraries that attracted the attention of only a few people up to 10 years ago, but now motivate many climbers from all over Europe to come climbing here.
Stefano Dalla Gasperina, born in 1965, I started visiting the mountains in the valleys of the Gran Paradiso area, particularly those on the Piedmontese side. Many mountains, many friends, the desire to work in contact with nature and share its beauty with others, led me to become a Mountain Guide. A profession that I carry out in its original classic form by climbing mountains, trying to convey passion and knowledge. The Orco valley is where I grew up, and where I got to know the mountains, where I started skiing and climbing, and it is obviously an important place for me, and for this reason, when the opportunity arose, I did not hesitate to get involved, tackling a delicate and demanding job.
Matteo Dalla Gasperina, born in 1999, the last of the "Millennials", I was born and raised in this magnificent valley, where probably anyone with a passion for cracks would want to live. I owe my passion for climbing, or rather for the mountain in all its forms, to those who transmitted this love to me, in general to my whole family who has always lived in the Alps, but especially to my father Luca and certainly to my "Uncle Guide" Stefano. I was very young when I started climbing with my father, then over the years my passion for mountaineering grew more and more, from my first experiences on the rocky walls near home with my long-time friend Riccardo, to the various repetitions of the most beautiful routes in the valley and the Alps. In recent years I have been involved in the family business, which operates in the field of removing loose materials from slopes and their consolidation, so I take off my harness on Friday evening and put it back on Saturday morning to climb some beautiful mountain.
